Windows Police Pro is a Rogue Spyware program that masquerades as a legitimate antivirus program but is in fact a nasty piece of spyware. I was recently infected with this new virus, and spent a while looking around the internet for ways to get rid of it. I know a lot of people would rather have an automated fix than try to remove a piece of spyware manually, so that's why I created this automated removal tool for Windows Police Pro.

Disclaimer (Legalese): The software removal tool provided here, "WinPPFix", is provided AS-IS with no warranty, express or implied for any particular purpose. In no event shall you, the user, deem myself, the author, liable for any damages to your computer or data that may result in the use of this software. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! The author is not affiliated with Microsoft. "Windows" and all other trade or service marks used on this page remain the property of their respective owners.

Disclaimer (Plain English): I really don't like spyware. I wrote this program to try to help other people with the same problem I had: Removing Windows Police Pro and (hopefully :D) get a few donations from happy people who feel that this is useful software. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong and your computer crashes or you lose data as a result of running this software, you agree not to sue me for it, because I was only trying to help! :D Also, I don't work for Microsoft, nor do I own the term "Windows", so please don't sue! :D:D

*This software has been tested under Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home, and Windows XP Professional. It may or may not work on other versions of Windows. Feel free to try it and send me some feedback via the form on the bottom of this page, let me know if it works or not and what version of Windows you are running.

NOTE: It is HIGHLY recommended to perform any of these steps after disconnecting your computer from the internet and if possible rebooting the system into safe mode. Under Windows XP/NT/2000, this can be done by restarting the computer and repeatedly pressing the F8 key until you get a menu. Select "Safe Mode" from the list and press Enter.

I have made available 2 packages for the WinPPFix file. They are the Zip File or the Self-Extracting .exe file. Use either one, they contain the same files, just packaged differently.

For an explanation of exactly what the program does, you can check out the Manual Removal Instructions below. The program does the exact same steps, just faster than you can do them without the software.

*Usage Note: Windows Police Pro often comes installed with a program called "desote.exe". When you attempt to run any .exe file, you will get an error message due to changes made to your system registry. Click "OK" on the error messages that pop up on your screen until you are able to access the program.
